Automated gates, barriers, rising bollards and turnstiles are classified as moving machinery and are therefore covered under the The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, British Standards, Health and Safety at Work Act and TS 013:2021.
It is a legal requirement for all of these products to have a full documented maintenance regime in place as per the manufacturers instructions. The industry standard recommendation is two visits per annum, dependent on use.
